February 17th is the twins' birthday. Annie and Christian will be 10 years old. Christian is in love with all things John Deere, something he inherited from my dad. In honour of "Grampa Mike", I created this tractor birthday/gift card holder for Christian.
Supplies: Stampin Up cardstock - black, whisper white, summer sun
Designer Series paper - green print (I used a discontinued stripe pattern)
SU basic black ink
SU retired stamp set "Tractor Time", and "Happy Birthday"
SU Stampin Write Markers
4 black mini brads
Snail adhesive and dimensionals
Punches- scallop circle and 1 3/4" circle
Cut whisper white cardstock 5 1/2" X 11". Score 2 3/4" in from each end of 11" side. Fold so you have a centre opening card.
Cut 2 rectangles 2 1/2" X 5 1/4" from black cardstock. Cut 2 green patterned recatangles 2 1/4" X 5" and adhere to centre of the black ones. Glue to card fronts.
Cut 2 white pieces 2 3/4" X 2". Stamp a tractor on each one. Colour in with markers. Cut 2 black pieces 3" X 2 1/4" each. Adhere white tractor pieces to these.
Glue half of each tractor piece to each card front leaving half of each piece as an overhang.
Open card.
Create gift card part. To a black rectangle 5" X 2 3/4" glue a patterned piece 4 1/2" X 2 1/2" which has a notch cut from the top . Be sure to keep adhesive close to botton and side edges. Do not glue top as you are making a pocket. Stamp tractors along edge of pocket. Glue the pocket securely to a 5 1/4" X 5 1/4" square of yellow cardstock.
Pierce holes in 4 corners of this square. Insert brads for decoration. Glue the whole piece to inner card centre panel.
Stamp "Happy Birthday" on green patterned paper, cut out with circle punch. Adhere to scalloped circle punched out of black card stock. Attach to inner card with dimensionals.
Any man or boy would really like a card like this, nothing "girlie" about it.
