Unscripted Bicycle Page

Good morning!  Hope you are ready for a great weekend ahead.  I have to work all weekend and hopefully the sunshine will bring out the customers.  We shall see.

My friend, Kristen in Ludington, has a sale today so I hope she sells LOTS of card kits.

Today I have a scrapbook page done on MDS for our challenge at Unscripted Sketches.  Jordan got a new bike and I was looking for a place to post the pictures.  I think this week's sketch was a perfect vehicle for that.  I love making pages with MDS- it is so versatile and easy to use.  And I can be creative anywhere my computer can travel - no other supplies needed.

I really hope you will visit Unscripted Sketches this week.  The design team examples for this challenge are all so different from each other that you cannot help but be inspired.  Please give us a try.

Well I have to get ready for work so I best get going.  Have a good weekend.
Happy Stamping!

Z-FOLD CARD TUTORIAL

As I promised, here are the instructions to make the Z-fold card I posted earlier today.  I have not included the embellishment and the emboss resist technique used to make the front panel is explained in my first video.

Thank you for watching and, since I am so new at this, all comments would be appreciated.
Happy Stamping!

EMBOSS RESIST VIDEO

Well, here goes - my first video tutorial.  It shows the emboss resist technique used on the mother's day card posted earlier

It is a bit rough, but they will get better.  Please let me know what you think.

Happy Stamping!

Swinging Z-Fold Mother's Day Card

Hello!  Did anyone watch the Royal Wedding this morning?  Wasn't it spectacular?

Today I have a simple Mother's Day card which also happens to be a swinging Z fold card.  You can make this card any size but mine is from an 8" x4" piece of cardstock. The front panel uses the emboss resist technique and, with any luck, I am going to make my first video tutorial explaining how to do this.  And if that works out, I am going to do a second one showing how to make this card.  Wish me luck!!

Colours I used are Rich Razzleberry, Wild Wasabi and Crumb Cake which go great together.  It is a very easy card once you know the technique and is not at all difficult to put together.
My stamp set was Vintage Vogue, just in case you are wondering.  So, that is all for now.  Hopefully I will be back soon with a video.  Cross your fingers!
See you later,
Happy Stamping!

Try Stampin' #12

Good Tuesday morning!  It is time for another Try Stampin' On Tuesday challenge - and this one is a real toughie!  At least, I found it tough.  But I am sure you will find it a breeze.

I used the cupcake punch and stamp set and the Ice Cream Parlor paper pack and the stickers from that pack.  The corner flowers are done using the three step flower punch with button centers.
The cupcake medallion is on the end of a tag which is large enough to hold a gift card.  I used the slot punch to make slots to hold the card to the tag.  The medallion is held on with dimensionals so that it
will slide over top of the pocket .  For just a bit more embellishment, I used my Stampin' Wheel with the candles on it.  I stamped a strip on whisper white with VersaMark and then embossed the candles with Melon mambo embossing powder.  I don't know why, but I just do not seem to use the wheel often enough, even though it is really fun to use.
Please visit Try Stampin' On Tuesday to see the samples from the Stampin' Friends team and to give our challenge a try.  Thanks for visiting.
Happy Stamping!

Crazy Hallowe'en in April????

Happy Easter Everyone!!

Sounds kind of silly saying that with a Hallowe'en card sitting here - but - yes I have it right.  Barb at StampIt Crazy decided to change things up a bit this week with a Hallowe'en challenge this week.  Fun and different.  And, of course I was thrilled since that is my very favourite day of the year.

For my example, I decided to make a side step card.  I wanted to include way too many elements for a regular card.  I incorporated Barb's image, Stampin' Up stamps, die cut fence and trees and some buttons I had in my seasonal stash.  You see, every time I see cute theme related buttons I have to purchase them so I find myself with LOTS of them. (The cat, tombstone, ghost and bats are all buttons)

Please visit StampItCrazy and check out the spooky designs our design team members come up with.  Guaranteed you will get a scare (or chuckle)!  And enjoy your Easter.

Happy Stamping!

Sweet Stampin Easter Card

Since tomorrow is Easter, our challenge over at the Sweet Stampin Challenge Blog is indeed Easter and, you will find, a very cute Easter theme.

I made this card for my niece, she is very "girlie" and I think she will love it.  This is my attempt at a more frilly, feminine card.  Although it is not overly embellished, it is kind of lacey with the doily background.  I decided to colour the image with my Stampin Pastels and blender pens to give it a soft, sweet look.  And I used my Boho Blossoms punch to make the flowers for the hat to give the card some added texture.    I have made a resulution to create cards with more layers to them so bear with me during this process.  If you have any hints along the way, please let me know.  This is one area where I have to grow and I am really going to work on that.  Well, enough on that subject.  I do not want to bore you.

Please visit Sweet Stampin to view some really wonderful design team examples that will make you want to create a card of your own.  It may be late for an Easter card but you can always make something "springy" instead.

Happy Easter and Happy Stamping!

Unscripted Simple Easter Card

Hello and Happy Day before Easter!  Today for my card for Unscripted Sketches I decided to make a plain and simple, uncluttered Easter card.

I really like this uncluttered style, and use it a great deal.  I am not very good at adding too many embellishments to my work.  I admire those who can but when I try,  mine look like "just a hodgepodge".

The colours I used today are Pear Pizzazz and So Saffron and I used the stamp set "A Good Egg".  I coloured the chick with my Stampin' Markers.

If you have never visited Unscripted Sketches, you should hop on over.  The team of designers is so talented and the sketches really stimulate your creativeness.
I am sure you will want to participate as soon as you get a chance.

Wishing you  all a wonderful Easter with  lots of family fun and fellowship!

Happy Stamping!

EARTH DAY PRESENT

Happy Earth Day, everyone!!!!

In honour of Earth Day, I have created another "recycle" project.  This little present began life as an eisenglass box holding a salt and pepper shaker set.  With a bit of effort, it is now an Easter box which I filled with sweets for my daughter.

To complete the project, I cut some Crumb Cake cardstock to fit inside the clear container (it is just slightly smaller on each side than the container measures) and added 2" in length all round so I could make flaps on the bottom.  I also added 1/4" to the width which I folded in and adhered Sticky Strip to so that I could form the box shape.  I scored and folded the cardstock AFTER I stamped all over with Early Espresso and the large flower image from Elements of Style.

After checking the fit and assembling the box, I used Blushing Bride cardstock and ran my Beautiful Wings Embosslit through the Big Shot to create several butterflies which I spritzed with Champagne Shimmer Mist.  After they dried, I glued them to my box sides, attached pearls and then slid the box inside the clear container.  After filling the present with "Kisses", I simply closed the lid.

I then made a 2 3/4" square card out of Crumb Cake, sponged it and stamped it in EE and attached a butterfly to the front.  Inside, I stamped Happy Easter and stuck on a tiny butterfly.  Lastly, I punched a hole in the corner and tied a bow through it to attach it to the top.

There you go.  To me, conservation and recycling are extremely important and if I can reuse an item to give others joy, I am a happy lady.

Happy Stamping and Enjoy Earth Day!!

Try Stampin' #11

Hi and Happy Tuesday!!

It is time for another challenge over at Try Stampin' On Tuesday.  My design team example this week is a baby card - something I almost never make.  For this card, I used two stamp sets --A Slice of Life and Baby Bundle.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Since the sketch reminds me of a clothesline, I decided to stamp, colour and cut out baby clothes from both sets and hang them from string stretched across the card front.  I curled the legs of the sleepers with a bone folder to make it look like they are blowing in the breeze.  The background DSP is from an older paper pack with a cloud design on it.

I would like to invite you to visit Try Stampin' On Tuesday.  You will be glad you did.  The Stampin' Friends' examples are awesome and the challenge is a lot of fun!

Thanks so much for stopping by and Happy Stamping, everyone!

Pizza Easel Card - PDF

Hi, as promised, here is a pdf instruction file containing instructions for making a Pizza Box/Easel Card.  This is a construction tutorial, not an embellishing and stamping one. I did not include instructions for this specific card.

Pizza Easel Card

Good Sunday morning!  I hope it is nice where you are - we are getting a snow storm.  Ugh!!!  But it is only a week before Easter so the seasonal projects continue.

I like making those little pizza boxes in every shape and size so I decided to combine a pizza box ( but not square) and an easel card (again not square) to create a tiny gift for a friend at Easter.  I filled the box with jelly beans 'cause everyone likes those.

Again I used the chocolate bunny from last year as the focal point for my card.  The sentiment is from Easter Blossoms and the flowers are using the Boho Blossoms punch and the Punch Bunch stamp set.  My colours are So saffron, Perfect Plum and a hint of Early Espresso.  I will do up a PDF with the measurements and basic instructions later today.
I still have a couple of Easter presents to make but I also have some ideas so I think this will go relatively quickly.

Well, enough for now.  I am off to have a shower and get ready for work.  Stamping has got in the road of getting ready and now I only have 30 minutes to get there.

Until later,
Happy Stamping,

Unscripted Earth Day Project

Good morning!  It is a rainy/snowy day here - a good day for stamping.  But, alas, I have to work.
Before I get to my project, I want to share some awesome news!  My grandson emailed me from Roatan and he passed his SCUBA certification.  AND HE IS ONLY 10 YEARS OLD!

Well, on to my project.  Unscripted Sketches  is a weekly sketch challenge with an awesome, international, design team.  Our DT always comes up with amazing insprations for you, and the sketches are very diverse and are open to many interpretations.  In fact, our sketch is rectangular and I turned it into a circular design.

This week, is a "piggy back" week.  As earth day is next week, Sarah challenged us to use some sort of recycled stuff on our project.  My recycled item is a tuna can.  I used it as the base for my little spring container suitable for candy or trinkets.  I am going to fill it with jelly beans for a friend for Easter, I think.  The flower on the top is from the Petal Punches die and the matching stamp set.  The paper is So Saffron and Elegant Eggplant. I used my Big Shot to make all the vellum butterflies.

You should visit Unscripted Sketches.  You will love the examples from the team and you will love our challenge.

Hope you have a good weekend and do something you want!
Happy Stamping!

Stampin' B Easter Card

Hi again!
Today I have a card I made for the Stampin' B's challenge this week.  The challenge was to use a square, circle and oval on the same card.  I decided to make a Surprise Slider card (which I found on Splitcoast Stampers).  I changed mine up a bit though and added a second sentiment on the slider tag.

It took me awhile to get this card done but I was surprised how easy it was to make.  I have included a few pictures so that you can see it open and closed.

I luckily got to use up quite a few scraps of paper and cardstock  - which is a goal of mine right now.    The stampsets I used were Easter Blossoms and the Chocolate Bunny from last year's mini ( I love that stamp).

I will say, though, that if you are mailing this card, you should have the post office check the weight.  There are several layers and it might require extra postage.

I love this card and want to make a couple more for some special people at Easter.  I like cards and projects with unexpected or unusual elements and this fits the bill.
Until later,

Happy Stamping!

Colour Throwdown Happy Easter

Good afternoon, everyone!  I think spring may finally be here in Northern Ontario -sure hope so.  It is about 15 degrees (celcius) and I just got back from a walk with the dogs.

Since I have two days off in a row (woohoo!!) I thought I would try to get a couple of challenges done. This card is for the Color Throwdown challenge this week. The colours for this challenge are teal, summer sun and celery.

For the yellow background, I sponged on to white cardstock and then used my distressed stamp to age it with More Mustard ink.  I think it looks really cool and different. (technique learned from Andrea Walford's blog).  Please visit The Color Throwdown and check out other samples using this colour scheme.
Hope you have a great evening and
Happy Stamping!
