Colour Throwdown #148

Hello, here is a quick post to show you my card for the challenge at Color Throwdown Challenges this week .    Here is the colour combination:
Believe me, it was not easy to come up with a card.  But then I thought of the stampset I used and decided to mask off areas, stamp, mask off other areas, stamp and then do it again.  I also made two of each of the flowers and used dimensionals to give them depth.  The only thing left was to go through my stash and find papers that would layer to make the card work.  And I think I accomplished that.

Like I say, this was not the easiest card to create but, in the end, I am pretty happy with it.

Monday Lunchtime Sketch #180

Good afternoon!  Thanks so much for visiting.  Today I have a card I made for the sketch challenge at the Technostamper blog .
Once again, I was experimenting with backgrounds.  You have seen me use the water droplet technique before but this time I tried something new.  I stamped the image on the background while the paper was still damp --and I love what happened.  Where the paper was wet, the black ink did not take so I get the coooooolest effect.  I do not even know what to call the result other than it looks kind of amoeba-like.  Awesome and unexpected.  Now, I do not know how it would work if I used stazon ink (I used classic black) but I will have to try that at another time.

For the background I used Summer Sun, Tangerine Tango and Cherry Cobbler, all sponged on fairly heavily on white cardstock so that when I sprinkled the water there would be a dramatic effect.  The stampset is Inspired By Nature stamped with Basic Black ink.  Instead of ribbon, I simply wrapped twine around and tied a knot.  I always find The Monday Lunchtime Sketches very inspiring and am happy I gave this one a try.

Until next time,
Happy Stamping

Try Stampin' #21

Good day to you!

Today I have my example for the sketch challenge at Try Stampin' On Tuesday . I chose yellow and white (actually Daffodil Delight) and co-ordinating ribbon.  The image is Upsey Daisy stamped with the Daffodil delight ink.  The edges of the card are created by running the tulip embossing folder through my big shot.  I then made slits in this piece and threaded the ribbon through at top and bottom.  I sewed the little rosette and then attached an odd button from my stash to the front with a few stitches.  This is a very quick and simple card suitable for several occasions.

My example is much less striking than the ones from the other Stampin' Friends and I encourage you to visit Try Stampin' On Tuesday  to see their stunning works.  And please, while you are there, give our challenge a try.

Monday Lunchtime Sketch #179

Hello, it has been a week since I posted but my goal is to do at least one challenge a day for the next week.  And here goes.......

Today's card is inspired by the Monday Lunchtime Sketch #179 over at Mary Jo Price-Williams' blog.  I decided to use one of the background papers I have created on this card and keep everything else simple.  The image is from Punch Bunch embossed and added to the circle with dimensionals.   I think that the black and razzleberry make a striking combination.
This close up of the image gives you a better look at one of my favourite backgrounds.  I simply sponged different shades of ink on cardstock, and then flicked water on it.  When it dried, I stamped in black with a distressed look stamp.  That is all there is to it but I think it is soooooooooooo cool!  and I absolutely love the colours together.   This card is so uncluttered but I am very happy with the result.  I hope you like it.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you tomorrow.
Happy Stamping!

Try Stampin' #20

Hello, long time....no see.  I have been very neglectful of my blog.  We have been very short staffed at work so unfortunately my posting has suffered.

But today I have my example for the challenge over at Try Stampin' On Tuesday .  I decided to make a bright, summery, cool card (cool as in ice cream) this week.  And of course, orange is the coolest colour I know.  The stamp sets are Sweet Scoops and Sunny Fun and my background is Tangerine Tango.
I really encourage you to hop over to Try Stampin' On Tuesday to see the cards from the rest of the Stampin' Friends.  This week they are each so different from the next and I am sure you will not help but be inspired.
Thanks for stopping by.

Unscripted Sketches #111

Hi, today is Saturday and that means another Unscripted Sketch .  I had so much trouble with this sketch - I could not believe it.  Couple this with the fact that I have worked the last six days straight and believe me - I was stressed.  To make this card, I took my computer to work and did the background and all the stripes with MDS.  Then, when I got home the other night, I stamped the happy birthdays on it and stamped the cupcake and punched it out.  I used dimensionals to attach it to the card.

I am not at all happy with this card but, as I said, I was completely stumped.

Please visit the  Unscripted Sketches site to see much better examples from the rest of the team.  And then give the sketch a go.  Thanks for stopping by.

Unscripted Father's Day

Hi,  I have sort of been out of blog world in the lasdt couple of weeks.  I have been very busy with my Stampin' Fun and Friends site.  I did not realize how much work it is.

But I did get some time to do my example for Unscripted Sketches this week.  Unscripted Sketches is a sketch challenge blog and I am lucky to be on the design team.  This week I decided to do a Father's Day card using a wood grain background.  To create this background, I dragged chocolate chip, soft
suede and crumb cake ink pads across whisper white cardstock.  I then used my wood grain stamp with chocolate chip and black ink and stamped the wood look on it.  Lastly, I softened the white showing through with creamy caramel sponging.  It really looks a lot like wood.  The elephant stamp is one I found at a flea market - do not know the manufacturer - and it is pretty old.  It is supposed to me a mother and calf but it could be a dad!  I love this card because it is a new twist to the typical Father's Day card (no cars, boats or fishing rods) and it would be perfect for a little guy to give his dad.  Please visit Unscripted Sketches today to see the examples from the other ladies on the team.  You will surely be inspired.

Try Stampin#18

Good morning! Long time no see.  Today I have my example for the Try Stampin' On Tuesday challenge this week.  It is really funny but I knew the stamp I wanted to use right away.  Unfortunately it did not turn out nearly as well as I had hoped.  Oh well!

The concept was perfect in my mind but I did not transfer it to the card very well..  I could not put the extra layer it shows in the sketch without adding another colour and I just did not want to do that.  So my card does not quite match up to the sketch.

I do like the card, though.  Just not the take on the sketch.  Go figure.....and I designed the sketch. LOL  Well, hope your day is great and you find time to stamp.

See you later,
