UNscripted Sketches #116

Hi, this will be a very quick post today.  It is Saturday so that means another sketch challenge at Unscripted Sketches. In keeping with our Christmas In July theme, I have this card on the left.  Let me apologize for the quality of the picture but I cannot find my camera (I think I left it at my daughter's) so I had to borrow one and it is not as easy to use as mine.

I used some old DSP and discontinued stamps to make this card and only Cherry Cobbler ink.  The card is Crumb Cake and the only other cardstock is very vanilla.  It seems like I am drawn to one-colour stamping right now and I guess I better get it out of my system.

Well, I am off to the golf course - a whole weekend off with my husband and my first chance to get out this year.  Please visit Unscripted Sketches to see what the rest of the design team have come up with and while there, check out our Christmas In July fun and goings ons.

See you later,

Try Stampin' #24

Good morning, today for my example at Try Stampin' On Tuesday I decided not to make a card.  I have started a small (6x6) scrapbook of Jordan's sports endeavours so, when I looked at my sketch, I thought it was perfect for a layout.  This is a picture from his first year in hockey and I like how it looks in this layout.  The stars are done with my Stampin' Wheel with the Stars cartridge and my cardstock is Cherry Cobbler, More Mustard (I have lots left) and Night of Navy.

There was nothing difficult about this project, it came together in about 20 minutes - but I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

I encourage you to visit Try Stampin' On Tuesday.  I have an awesome design team who come up with great examples to inspire you.  I hope you get the time to give our challenge a try as well.

Thanks for stopping by.

Christmas Gift Box And Cards

Hi to all!
Today I want to show you the quick gift box project I made for my featured project on Unscripted Sketches today.  Every day in July there is something special over there and my day is today.

For detailed instructions, you can go to Unscripted Sketches or you can click on this link: Gift Box Instructions .You will find that this is a very simple box to make with endless decorating possibilities.  Instead of the cards, you could fill it with candy,or any other treats.
The inside dimensions are 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"- big enough to hold 3" cards and envelopes (I did not make the envelopes yet).

I hope you find these instructions helpful and that you get a chance to make one of these SUPER EASY boxes.

Thanks for stopping by,

Unscripted Sketches #115

Hi, welcome all!  It is still Christmas In July at Unscripted Sketches so I am keeping with the theme.  This week, there is a piggyback to our challenge - use gift wrap in our project.  I found some left-over snowman paper so I used that as my background for my card.  I decided to do the entire card in
Creamy Caramel (retired but I have a ton left) and Very Vanilla.  I used the new Lace Ribbon Border punch instead of ribbon-very cool. For stamps, I raided three sets (Bells and Boughs, and two retired ones) The stamping is very simple and I sponged all edges.  I reversed the sketch so that the snowman's head from the background would show through.

I am really quite pleased with this card and especially love the monochromatic colour scheme.
Hope you are enjoying Unscripted Sketches Christmas In July and I encourage you to visit the site for fun, prizes, games, sketches and a whole lot more.

Thanks for stopping by,

Stamping411 - Almost

Hi, and happy Thursday!
Can you believe that I busted my butt to get this in for the challenge at Stamping411 this week and just missed the deadline by a phone call.  I looked at the sketch for days, and finally this morning got an idea.  So I started by doing a faux linen technique for the floral background (which took an hour in itself) and then stared at the background trying to pick colours to compliment it.  Now for some of you this might have been easy - but not for me.  I am not a "flower" person.  After I figured my colours, I then could not think of anything to put on the centre panel.  I scanned all of my stamps and then decided to use my Big Shot and an embossing folder instead.  Okay, then I had to spray shimmer mist on that segment.  Almost finished.  Picked a sentiment and stamped, punched and glued.  Now for the butterfly- wanted a slight contrast so decided on the Soft Suede.
Just getting it all together to take photos and ring!ring! - the phone.  I was expecting a call so- silly me- I answered it.  It wasn't the call I was waiting for, it was my son just wanting to talk.  Now I love him dearly but I got rid of him as fast as I could and proceded to take the pics.  Scooted out to the computer to edit the photos and then over to the Stamping411 site and, low and behold, the link had closed 2 minutes before.  Oh well, thought I would show it to you anyway.  I really like the result.
And that is my tale of woe!  Do not be too sad though, it has happened before and I am sure it will happen again!

Unscripted Sketches #114

Morning, all!  Glad you could stop by.  Just a reminder that it is Christmas In July over at Unscripted Sketches and we are having a Holly!Jolly month.  There are games, give-aways, designer profiles and much much more PLUS we are still holding our regular challenges.  Please hop over and join in the fun!
In keeping with our theme, here is another early Christmas card taken from our sketch this week.

I decided to give it a bit of a vintage look with stitching ( I have never stitched on a card before) and some old fashioned background paper.  I used Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze and Garden green - not exactly Christmas colours and sponged the edges to give it a worn look. The stamp sets are Serene Snowflakes and a retired set (I cannot remember the name right now).  For the bow, I gathered some organza ribbon and cinched it with the snowflake brad.  Then I added the other brads to punch it up.

Hope you enjoy this card and participate in our special Christmas In July at Unscripted Sketches !  It is proving to be a lot of fun.
Thanks,

Color Throwdown #149

Hi, today I have a super quick card I made for the challenge at the Color Throwdown  this week.  The challenge was to use these colours:

I have to admit that these are not really my colours but I came up with a card using a flower I made for a video.  Just had to add green leaves and DSP and Apricot greeting and border layer and that was that.  Every once in a while it is fun to put something together quickly - especially when it turns out okay.

Now, it's outside for some frisbee fun with my grandson!
Have a great day,

Monday Lunchtime Sketch #181

Hi, I am a little late in getting this done.  I wanted to do it on Tuesday....but you know how things are.

My sister's birthday is coming up so I thought I better get going on a card.  When I saw this week's sketch, I decided to use it to make the card.  The colours come right from the "Color Coach" - Daffodil delight, Night of navy and Rich Razzleberry.  A cool combination!

I used the Flower garden embossing folder and then sponged over top to accent the lines. Mary Jo's sketch called for a bow but I found my image just too big to include one.  Also, it shows paper ripping.  I tried several times but just did not like the white of the paper showing on the edge.  The secret to getting rid of the white edge is to rip DOWN instead of up.  Then the top layer of the paper is all that shows on the torn edge.  Of course, where there is a flower, there are butterflies so I added one just for fun.

Please visit Mary Jo's blog to see this challenge and more of her wonderful work.

Thanks for stopping by.

Try Stampin' #22

Good morning!
It is Tuesday and that means another Try Stampin' On Tuesday sketch.  This week, I decided to have some real fun with our sketch.  You guessed it--- fun card making for me means Hallowe'en.  So I pulled out my Wicked Cool stamp set, some googly eyes, Perfect Plum DSP and Basic Black and Tangerine Tango cardstock and voila - here is what I got:
Spooky, giggly fun!!

Now, the other girls on the Stampin' Friends team have much more serious and pretty cards than this (but that is why we are all on the team - we are all different).  Please visit Try Stampin' to see exactly what they did.  I guarantee you will love their work.  And I hope you will give our challenge a try.

Thanks so much,

Stamping 411 Sketch 210

Good evening!   Thanks for visiting.
A little boy I know just passed his swimming lessons so I thought I would make a card to let him know I am proud of him.  It just so happens that the sketch from Stamping 411 suited my idea perfectly so I decided to combine Oliver's card with the challenge.
I only used two colours of cardstock (Pacific Point and Whisper White), one DSP (Tangerine Tango), one ink (Pacific Point), the stamp set Sunny Fun, some VERY OLD greetings stamps and my markers.  The trim is the pompom trim from the mini and the teeny buttons are from my stash.  This card came together so quickly and I think it is just perfect for my little friend.  I hope it makes him giggle!

Until next time......

Unscripted Ho!Ho!Ho!

Hi, no you are not seeing things.....it is Christmas in July at Unscripted Sketches!!  All month, we want to put you in the holiday spirit.  Maybe a good time to get a jump on your Christmas cards or handmade presents.
To make this card, I pulled out some of my older Christmas "stuff"  since my new Stampin' Up supplies have not come in yet.  But I really love this Santa.  He reminds me of a children's storybook.  I do not even know where the ribbon came from.  I think it is 15 or 20 years old.

I don't know why, but I found the sketch this week very difficult and ended up making three cards before I found one I liked.  Silly me!  But, when you see the other designers' cards, you will see that they had no trouble at all!  Please visit Unscripted Sketches today - and every day this month - to see some awesome Christmas ideas.

Happy Stamping! And Merry Christmas !LOL
