Friendship's Garden Pinterest Challenge

Good morning to all.  Today's challenge at Friendship's Garden is an inspiration challenge.  The inspiration comes from this photo found on Pinterest:
When I look at this picture, I see a couple of things.  First, it has a "country" air about it. Second, the leaves jump out at me and third, there is a central circular motiff.  For my example, seen here,
I used a quilt block background which is both country and cozy with a touch of lace around the edge.  The central round image is a wreath with candies in the centre - which also satisfies the leaf criteria.  I also used buttons as the holly berries .  I finished things off with a big plaid bow - again very down-home.
I hope you will visit Friendship's Garden to see how the other Garden Girls interpreted this picture and perhaps, you will want to enter the challenge yourself.  Remember - no stamping allowed (other than a sentiment)!
Thanks so much for visiting and enjoy your day!

Tag Along With Me #4

Hello,
Today's tag is one which has a real "country" look to it.
This is the first of my "tags with a purpose" - meaning that they are made for specific people. I will be using this one for my brother.  And here is  the link to the video  showing how I created this tag.
Thanks for stopping by!

Try Stampin' On Tuesday #43

Good morning to everyone!
Today I have my card I created for the challenge at Try Stampin' On Tuesday.  The central image is mounted on a rectangle of light blue water glass.  Lately, I have been obsessed with adding glass to my cards ( for a while it was beads).
To make the background paper, I used the technique shown in the following video.  This is really fun to do and the result is always a surprise!

Then all I had to do was emboss some snowflakes on it, add the ribbon and the glass, cut and emboss a snowflake in silver and adhere it to the centre glass.  Then I just stuck on the pearls and I was done.  Simple yet elegant!
I hope you will visit Try Stampin' On Tuesday and possibly enter our challenge.
Thanks for stopping by and happy stamping!

Unscripted Sketches #133

Happy Saturday!  It is time for another challenge at Unscripted Sketches.  This week our challenge has a piggy back - no patterned paper.  Which is really cool for me since I love making my own backgrounds.
I used alcohol inks and swirled them around to create the main background.  For the bottom segment, I ran the paper through my Big Shot using two different embossing folders.
I thought I would use non-traditional colours for this Christmas card just to see if it worked. And I am pretty pleased with the result.

This week, the examples from the design team are really awesome!  I am sure you will be inspired to give our sketch a try. (the piggy back is optional).  So visit Unscripted Sketches and see what we have to offer.  You will be hooked!!

Tag Along With Me #3

Hi, here is the third in my series of Christmas tags.  This tag was created by stacking several stamping layers.  It started out as a white tag and then I used Tim Holtz Distressed Ink in the new Christmas colours.
I started with the Iced Spruce and then used a wheel and  Christmas Berries over top.  I brushed these wheeled snowflakes with Perfect Pearls.  On top of that I stamped the  Evergreen trees and more red snowflakes.  The winter scene is stamped with Versa mark and embossed with white embossing powder.  The snowflake in the bottom right is chip board (I used a cereal box) which is covered in the spruce ink and then Perfect Pearls in mint.  Lastly, I did the greeting on a banner and added the pearl to the snowflake centre.
Tomorrow I will do a video to show the steps involved to make this tag.
Hope you like it and...........
Thanks for stopping by!

Friendship's Garden Thanksgiving Challenge

It is almost Thanksgiving in the United States so, at Friendship's Garden, our challenge this week celebrates that theme.
If you have never visited Friendship's Garden, we are a site which promotes card making without stamping.  The only stamping permitted is the sentiment or greeting.  I find that I am being forced to stretch my creativity - and that is a very good thing.
This week there is a recipe we are to follow:
                                  1 die cut
                                  2 patterned papers
                                  3 trims
My card features a cute pilgrim boy in a die cut frame.
You can see the patterned papers and the trims are ribbon, brown lace and a twine bow.
I hope you visit Friendship's Garden to see the amazing inspirations from the team which, I am sure, will convince you to give our challenge a try.
Thanks for visiting and happy creating!

Try Stampin' #41

Good morning, it is Tuesday and that means there is a challenge over at TRY STAMPIN' ON TUESDAY.  Our sketch this week is a basic one so I had no problem coming up with a card (LOL).
I decided that blue and white suited this sketch and I knew I wanted to use this snowman stamp.  I stamped the image in white and then embossed with white embossing powder to make it "pop".  The background is navy cardstock run through my Big Shot with an embossing folder and then lightly brushed with white ink directly from the ink pad to give a soft, delicate look to the snowflakes.  I sprayed the background with shimmer mist to give a slight twinkle (hard to see in the picture).  This was such a simple card and it went together in about 15 minutes.
Please visit TRY STAMPIN' ON TUESDAY to see the inspirations from the other gals on the design team and to possibly enter the challenge.
I look forward to seeing your creations.
Thanks and Happy Stamping!

Tag-Along With Me

Hi again,  Halloween is over and so my series of tags will change focus.
My tag today is a Christmas one - using glass nuggets and some subtle background stamping.
This is a very simply created and designed tag but I think it is really pretty.  The large snowflake is two layers connected by dimensionals to give the tag some oomph!
Tomorrow morning I will do a video explaining how I made this tag.
Hope you enjoy!

Friendship's Garden 15 Minute Challenge

Hello and happy Wednesday!  Today I have my DT sample for the 15 minute challenge at Friendship's Garden Challenges.  I have never done a timed challenge like this - it was a whole lot of fun!! Our only guidelines were that we had to take less than 15 minutes and the only stamping we could use was  a sentiment.  (In case you have never visited Friendship's Garden, it is a non-stamping card-making site.  And I love being part of it.)

For this card, I used punches, embellishments and an embossing folder.  I bought these gold snowflakes a couple of years ago and they are just perfect for the centres of the ornaments.

I really hope you will take the time to visit our site and see the great creations by the members of our team.  You will discover how amazing it is to create cards without stamping.  maybe you will enter our challenge.  I will see you soon....

Unscripted #131

Hello!  Saturday is Unscripted Sketches day and this week is no exception.
I love this Mona Lisa, Eiffel Tower stamp from Tim Holtz and I intentionally stamped it softly to give it a dreamy, soft look which goes with the sentiment very well.  Time was an issue with this card (I am on a stint of 8 straight days of work) and now that I reflect, there are a couple of things I would change.
I have been a member of the DT at Unscripted Sketches for more than a year and I marvel at the talent of these ladies.  I encourage you to visit the site and check out the projects this week.  You will definitely be inspired.
Thanks so much for stopping by!  have a good weekend!

Friendship's Garden Autumn Challenge

Good morning to everyone!  It is Wednesday and that means it is time for another challenge at Friendship's Garden Challenges, this cool new site where we create projects WITHOUT stamping on them.  I love this site.  This week we were to come up with a card that uses leaves and autumn colours.  I sort of struggled with this since I had wanted to incorporate a photo of leaves which had turned.  But, alas, there are no leaves left on the trees around our area.
After much thought, this is what I came up with -
The tree is a die cut and the leaves are punches.  So is the border.  It is an EK Success border punch.  After staring at it for awhile, I decided that I do not mind this card at all.

We  have an amazing co-ordinator, Becky, who always knows what to say, how to encourage, and when to say it.  She is a great friend to us all and I thank her for helping me through this project.  Becky, I appreciate you dearly.

Please visit Friendship's Garden and view the examples from the rest of the team.  I am sure you will want to participate in this week's challenge.

Thanks for stopping by,

Try Stampin' #39

Thanks so much for visiting.  Today I have my design team sample for the challenge at Try Stampin' On Tuesday.
To make my card, I used some DSP which I did not like, stamped over it with a background stamp and versa mark, embossed with clear embossing powder and then inked over it with Chocolate Chip ink.  Then I was stumped - did not know what to do for the centre image and sentiment.  Then I decided it only required a line image - not a solid- and it had to be brown.  You can see what I came up with.
I hope you are spurred on to enter our challenge.  We have a special one this week.  if I get 10 or more entries, I will give away a free pass to the upcoming session of Christmas Dreams.  So hop on over and enter.
Have a great day!
