Try Stampin' #71 ReWorked!!

When I finished my card for Try Stampin' this week, I loved the background but was pretty disappointed about the image.  I asked for help from anyone who wanted to give it and, with a little help from Penny Wessenauer, this is what I came up with.  She suggested glass and colouring it.  I used yellow water glass instead (I just happen to do stained glass as well so I have a supply).  I backed it in silver foil to bring out the colour of the glass.  I stamped it with a tree stamp (which I wanted to use originally) from Lovely As A Tree.  Rather than a wide heavy ribbon or banner, I opted for a skinnier, die cut piece so that you can still see most of the background.
(The photo is a bit "fuzzy" but I have a hard time taking pictures of glass and having them come out clear)
Please let me know which one of the cards you like better.  I would be interested in knowing.
Thanks for visiting!

  1. Cheryl, I do like this a lot better.. that exquisite background called out for something with more visual weight.. this does the job nicely.. well done you!!!

  2. Cheryl, I like the first one better, to me the contrast between the stamped image and the background is more visually pleasing. I might have tried a little antiquing on the image or inked the edges of the image. In the re-make the first thing that catches my eye is the pink border strip and it's so bright it looks out of place. Personally I do not care for the background color on the tree, it doesn't go with the vibrant background. Of which I must say, I LOVE the backgrounds. Linda R.

  3. Love both cards. I think the stained glass card would be perfect for anyone that does do stained glass, but I like the image on the first card a little better. As you say maybe it is because of the blurriness of the picture, shaky hands and picture taking don't mix!
