I had been thinking about my kids and our relationships and decided this elephant stamp suited the theme I had in mind. I did not want to put it in a square like the sketch so I dug through my stash and found this old wooden heart. I painted it and stamped the image in Stazon and then decoupaged it to the background. I am not sure why I added the column of blue circles but I thought they tied to the heart pretty well. The words are just printed using a word processing program and then cut out and glued on. I did this because I am having a hard time finding a doodling pen I like.As I said, I took a great deal of liberty with the sketch (the flower represents the vertical band). There is still time to get in on the fun!!
I love this page, CherylAnn!I have been a scrapbook artist for more than 10 years, and a DT member on The Let's Scrap (sketch website), and I believe sketches are to be used as inspiration, a jumping off point, if you will. With this in mind, I believe you did a marvelous job using the sketch and "making it your own." I believe the elephant is perfect, because you never want your children to "forget" these things. I also notice that the sketch has a circle in the bottom left-hand corner, so you just creatively expanded in this idea and your multiple circles were born! (I can justify ANYTHING!) This is a wonderful addition to your art journal!
ReplyDeleteI think this is great!!! LOVE the idea and the words to show what a mother's love it--this is a fabulous tribute to motherhood! :)
