Unscripted #152

Hi, it is time for another challenge at Unscripted Sketches.  This week our sketch made me really think.
I decided to use some of the techniques from the Tim Holtz class I am taking as well as a different type of embellishment (for me, anyway).  Also, I did the card in mainly purple which is again not my norm. This is what I came up with:
The main image is stamped in Stazon  ink on a mottled background.  You cannot see it in the picture but I used perfect Pearls on the butterfly.  I struggled with the corner image but in the end decided to make some stick pins to put there.  The little sentiment is a fragment which I stamed in more Stazon and then alcohol inked the back.
Please visit unscriptedsketches.com to view the designs from the rest of the team and then to enter our challenge.
Thanks for visiting and Happy weekend!

Another TH Technique

Good afternoon!  I only have a few minutes since I just got called into work.  Someone went home ill and i do not know how to say "no".
I have another technique tag from the online Tim Holtz class I am taking.
It is a sort of "batik" technique which involves stamping, embossing, background inking, and ironing and I think it is kind of cool.  I decided to use greens and blues for the background with the purple flower and I love the tones.  I am going to try the same technique with a different kind of main image and much brighter, bolder colours and will post that result tomorrow.
Talk to you later - have to get my uniform on now.  Bye.

Unscripted #151

Good morning!  It is a dreary morning here but, oh well, the week was lovely so I guess I cannot complain - it is only March.
Today I have my card for the challenge at UNSCRIPTED SKETCHES this week.
This sketch has many possibilities and I am sure you will come up with something really great.
Here is my take:
I decided to use some Tim Holtz techniques, some metal and fun foam to create a cool tag.  The background is Distress Ink which is then spritzed with water and over stamped with a sanded background stamp.  I crinkled the metal sheet to give a little character.  Behind the fun foam is a copper metal piece which has been embossed.  The fun foam was heated and then stamped to create a tile effect and then I lightly rubbed it with champagne shimmer mist.  The butterfly is a charm which I covered with alcohol ink (it originally was silver).
I hope you visit UNSCRIPTED SKETCHES to see the designs by the rest of the team and to possibly enter our challenge.
Thanks for visiting!

Distress Ink Tag

Well, two in one day!  It is hard to imagine.  I am taking an on-line class by Tim Holtz and today he used Distress Inks.  I LOVE these inks and use them whenever I can.
Here is my tag illustrating today's technique.  I used Peeled Paint, Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmelade, Wild Honey and Broken China for the background and the raised dragonfly is Peeled Paint with Blue patina Perfect Pearls.  I decided to add white highlights to the letters so the message would stand out.
I am SO LOVING this course and cannot wait for tomorrow.
Thank you so much for visiting and again, enjoy your day!

Try Stampin' #58

Good morning!  Hope you are enjoying the first day of spring.  It is a beautiful, warm day here and I cannot wait to get outside.
Today I have my card for the challenge at Try Stampin' On Tuesday.  Our sketch this week is another great "Jenn Picard" one.  I am extremely grateful for the help with the sketches and she is so good at it.

My card is a watercolour one done on watercolour paper.
I used olive, orange, yellow and red (although you would never know it) and spritzed the inked stamp before I put it to paper.  The stamp set is Water Color Trio.  As an afterthought, I adhered the orange butterfly.  That "different" shade of orange seemed to make it come alive.
I really hope to see your cards over on Try Stampin' this week.  And I wish you would check out the samples from the design team over there.
Happy Spring!

Unscripted #150

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all!!
To celebrate, Unscripted Sketches has added a piggy back to our sketch. You guessed it - use green.  The sketch is a good one :
For my interpretation, I decided to make a Father's Day card.  I used the Nature's Nest stamp set (because I love the turtle)
The background for the turtle is re-inker floated in water and then I soaked my WW card stock on the surface and let it dry naturally.  Then I stamped and embossed the image and tore the edges.  Next I wrinkled this piece A LOT and then sponged the edges and ran the black ink lightly over the entire piece to accent the folds.
For the medallion, I used gold alcohol ink to "tarnish" the tin star, stuck some feathers behind and added the ribbon.
I am very happy with the look and the southwestern flair to this card.
Please visit Unscripted Sketches to see the gorgeous works from the other DT members.
Thanks for stopping by... and happy birthday to my grandson, Ian!

Lace and Bead Flower

Hi, it has been a while but I am finally getting back to my black, white and yellow mini album from a couple of weeks ago.  Today I want to show you the flower I made for the front cover.
I saw something similar on YouTube by Jennings644 and fell in love with it.  As I had no tiny string pearls, I had to make some changes to her flower and came up with my own version.  When I put it on the album, I am going to add some more embellishments  to it. And it will be the focal point .
This is not a typical item for me to make but I just loved doing it. In fact, I find myself making all kinds of floral embellishments and enjoying the process.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Please let me know what you think.

Unscripted Sketches #148

Good Saturday morning!
Today I have my example for our weekly challenge at Unscripted Sketches - a sketch challenge blog with a very talented team.  I marvel at the creativity these ladies have.
I really struggled with this sketch and thought for days about what I should do.  Looking at the flower arch, I finally decided that I wanted to use the top half of the large sunflower stamp to give the same effect.  Here is my result:
The card is a very simple one but I am quite happy with it.  I love the sunflower stamp but always have a hard time finding a use for it.  This just worked for me.
Please visit Unscripted Sketches and possibly even enter our challenge.  You will love what you see.
Well, I am off to work.  I hope it is a busy day but I am sure the snow will keep the customers away.  Oh well, I will bring a good read.
Thanks for visiting.

Easter Treats

Hello, I have been a bit lax over the last week or so but hope that I can finally get back on track.  We had a big sale at work and I worked 7 eleven-hour shifts in a row.  Then yesterday, I vegetated for most of the day. But now I am ready to go!!

I received an email from a lady who has a craft group and they want to learn how to use the sweet treat cups.  Not knowing the experience level of the ladies, I had to come up with an easy to do card for them to make.  I was supposed to teach them last night but one of the ladies was ill and so we postponed the class until next week.  But I thought I would show you what i came up with.  Here it is:
It is really quick to put together so I am also going to use it for my Easter treats for the people at work.
The card is 4" x 4" and is all done in pink and purple.  For the guys on my list, I will do a similar yellow and blue one with a chick on it.
I hope the ladies next Wednesday enjoy making this card and learn a little something along the way.
Thanks for stopping by!
