Liebster Award
Liebster Blog Award.
What is the Liebster Award?
Well . . . Some time (in the recent past), somewhere (rumor has it that it might be Germany), someone (I guessing he/she was named Liebster) decided to do something nice for a whole lot of bloggers and started the Liebster Blog Award. It’s an award you receive, but it is also an award that you give.
If you receive a Liebster Blog Award you are asked to choose 3-5 other bloggers and send them one as well. It is an award meant to highlight smaller blogs - less than 200 followers. Let them know that we care and are reading. The idea is that the blogger receiving the award links back to the blogger who awarded him/her, and then chooses 3-5 people to send the award to. There is no obligation to continue this award. I just thought it was a lovely way to share the love.
Here are the blogs I would like to pass the love on to:
Nancy Seed - http://seedstlc.blogspot.ca/
Billie Anderson - http://stampinwithinkonmyfingers.blogspot.ca/
Susan Brown - http://www.sbartist.blogspot.ca/
Michele Cunningham - http://currentcreekdesign.blogspot.ca/
I encourage everyone to visit these blogs and let the talented ladies know how special they are!
Try Stampin' Challenge #63
As you can tell, I still have travelling on my mind - plus - I have a friend who is going away. So I decided to do a bon voyage card. The background paper is actually a photo I took from the airplane. I changed up the area for an image a bit and I also rotated the sketch. Hope you like it.

Another Pic From Vacation
One of the probably 500 photos I took on vacation. Sadly, it all comes to an end tomorrow. The only thing I did not like was the lack of internet stability!

Unscripted sketches #155
Hi, hope this works. I downloaded blogger mobile and I will see if I have any better luck posting on my tablet with it.
Today I have my card for the weekly challenge at Unscripted Sketches.
This week, we have a piggy back to our challenge to use recycled items. My "recycled things" are the piece of glass from my stained glass stash, the beads from an old necklace, the map from a travel brochure and the string from an old drawstring bag. recycling items is always a fun challenge for me and I try to do it as often as I can.
The background paper is done using gesso, stamps and distress inks. I stamped with gesso, let it dry and then sponged over the piece with inks in blues and greens. Lastly i stamped over the entire piece with a distressed stamp. Neat, don't you think?
please visit Unscripted Sketches to see the really cool recycled examples from our team and to give our challenge a go.

Ocean Picture
I want to show you a picture of a squid I took yesterday. This is basically a test to see if I can get pictures to work OK in my blog (having major issues).

Try Stampin' #62
here is very sporadic at best. Our sketch this week was yet another from Jenn.
And here is what I did with it. The stamp set is a very old one, the background paper I made myself out of inks and water.
Please visit www.trystampinontuesday.blogspot.comto see what the other designers have created and to enter our challenge..

Unscripted #154
Today I have my sample for the challenge at Unscripted Sketches.
The sketch is a simple one but sometimes simple is best.
I decided to make an Artist Trading Card for my offering.
The background is another segment of collage with three lengths of ivory lace wrapped around it. The image is water colored with distress inks and the butterfly is a die cut with a stick pin body.
Please excuse the choppiness of this post as I have never posted with my tablet before.
Also, please visit unscriptedsketches.comand check out what the team have made. We have several new designers and they are all wonderful.
Thanks for visiting.

Try Stampin' #61
This week I decided to make an ATC (artist trading card) for my example at TRY STAMPIN' ON TUESDAY . Our sketch was another great one from Jenn Picard and I really had fun with it.My trading card has a collage background which I made by using all kinds of scraps (hooray) and gluing them to a piece of copy paper. I cut out a 2 3/8" X 3 3/8" section I liked for my card. The rest is stashed away for another time.
I then took two colours of metal (purple and red) and embossed them with my Big Shot and two different embossing folders. I glued these on to the card front. Then I distressed the edges of the background and wrapped the cotton lace around the front, added the stamped and punched sentiment to the front with a brad and then glued the whole thing to a piece of red card stock. Quick and easy!!
This was sooooo much fun to make so I see more ATCs in my future. (plus I got to use another cool background).
Please visit TRY STAMPIN' . You will be glad you stopped by!
Have a great week,

Unscripted Sketches #153
And yesterday, Ian and I spent the afternoon together. I do not get to spend time with him as much and it was such a nice day.
I hope your weekend is just as good.
Now on with the sketch...This week at Unscripted Sketches, we are having our third "Blog-iversary" and to celebrate we have a great sketch PLUS we are welcoming some new members to our team. You will have to pop over to UNSCRIPTED SKETCHES and check it out.
Here is my take on the sketch:
I used blues and greens and a smidgen of gold. The electric blue rectangle is metal and the front one is alcohol inked over gesso. I am so loving working with gesso!! In place of the front band, I decided to cut out a flourish and colour the three pearl embellishments with green marker. I found the rosette in a stash of "use-me-later" embellishments. I am very happy with this card. Although I wish the embossed sentiment stood out just a bit more. I am not good at mixing patterns but I have to admit that I am happy with how the swirls all seem to compliment each other.
Please visit UNSCRIPTED SKETCHES this weekend and check out the work of the other designers. They are a very talented crew. And please, enjoy your holiday weekend!

Gesso Background Video
Just wanted to give you the video I promised earlier today showing how to do the mixed media background using gesso and inks.
Try Stampin' #60
It is Tuesday so that means another challenge at Try Stampin' On Tuesday. This week, we have another sketch from Jenn - and it is a good one. My "tag" shape is cut out of fun foam and then stamped with VersaMark and embossed in orange. The little pearls are white ones which I coloured with markers.
I hope to do a video of this card later today so I hope you tune in then to see it. It is really a fun technique and gives a very cool effect.
Please visit Try Stampin' this week to see the designs by the team and I hope you will give our challenge a try.
Thanks for visiting!
