Late Nite Stampers Challenge #183
Ho!Ho!Ho!
It is Christmas In July at Late Nite Stampers and here is my example for the challenge:
It is a wreath made from some three hundred snowflakes cut with the embosslits Snowflakes 2 die in Eggplant, Plum and Wild Wasabi. I hot glued them to a round wreath form (10") and then stamped and coloured the other images and glued them on. You could use any decoration you want. The ribbon is an ivory organza one (I am not great on bows). This was time consuming but it is a really cute addition to your Christmas decorations.
Thanks for visiting!

I drew the winner of my comment contest on Sunday, but I had unexpected guests and forgot until today to do the post. Drum roll, please.....
The winner of the free pass to Celebrating Summer is Beth Krakowski (she picked the correct answer - pumpkin flower although I did enter the squash flower choice in the draw as well since they are the same family). Beth, I cannot find your email address, so please email me at cherylsteve.robinson@shaw.ca for the details.

Try Stampin' #76
Hi to everyone! it is another gorgeous day here and one where I just do not want to go to work. Oh, well!
Today I have my example for the challenge at TRY STAMPIN' ON TUESDAY . I decided to do a card for my grandson to celebrate their playoff win the other day. For the first time, he is on a football team which is in the finals.
He is the kicker and I thought, since I got a great picture, I would feature it on my card. There is no stamping on this card but I did use SU punches and card stock. Unfortunately, I could not get the colors in my photo to come out good (they are red and black). Sigh...

As you can see I flipped the sketch around but, since the sketch is a starting spot, that is OK.
Please visit TRY STAMPIN' to check out the samples from the other girls on the team and the gorgeous card from our guest designer, petra Berendsen.
Have a great day and check back Sunday evening to see how the Titans do.

Unscripted Sketches #168
Today I have my example for the sketch challenge at UNSCRIPTED SKETCHES - and the sketch has a piggy back (to use an animal in the design). I continued my Art Journal and modified the sketch - quite a bit, I am afraid - to suit my thoughts.
I had been thinking about my kids and our relationships and decided this elephant stamp suited the theme I had in mind. I did not want to put it in a square like the sketch so I dug through my stash and found this old wooden heart. I painted it and stamped the image in Stazon and then decoupaged it to the background. I am not sure why I added the column of blue circles but I thought they tied to the heart pretty well. The words are just printed using a word processing program and then cut out and glued on. I did this because I am having a hard time finding a doodling pen I like.
As I said, I took a great deal of liberty with the sketch (the flower represents the vertical band). Please visit UNSCRIPTED SKETCHES to check out the other designers' examples and to participate in our Christmas in July celebration.
There is still time to get in on the fun!!

I'VE BEEN FEATURED
Well, I just got the best news..... my art journal page of Annie posted below is being featured on an art site - Joyful Art. It is featured for a whole week on the front page under the heading "Scrapbooking ...With A Twist". Woohoo!!!!!
Art Journal - Taking the First step
I think I have mentioned that I wanted to start an art journal. Well, I have taken the first step. And, it is partly due to Annie (my niece). The other day, I looked at her and it finally hit me that she is not a little girl any more. When I came home, I decided to put that feeling to paper and so my journal has begun.
I cut out a head shot of her from a few years ago and put it on a paper body. Since I think of her as a little angel, I added book page wings. I probably could have done the writing smaller but, oh well, that is how it goes.
All in all, I like my page, and I do not think it is a bad first step. And, it was very satisfying to do.
I hope, if nothing else, this page brings a smile to your face.

Late Nite #182 - Embedded Embossing
Hi, this evening I have the card I made for our challenge at Late Nite Stampers - embedded embossing.
Now, I had never done this technique before but I found it a whole lot of fun. I decided to keep it simple. I stamped the flower on Kraft card stock using Soft Suede ink and then punched the petals out using the corresponding punch. I glued all the petals on Pretty In Pink card stock, stamped the sentiment, and then ran the unit through the Big Shot with my lattice embossing folder. Then I poked a hole in the center and used a Build-A-Brad for the flower center.
All that was left to do was layer the card front on chocolate chip card and then mounted the entire thing on a Kraft card. Simple, quick and very pretty!
Thanks for stopping by.

She Art #2- Annie
My sister's son plays football and her daughter plays soccer. I attend the football games quite frequently as Christian plays in the same league as Jordan but I never get to Annie's soccer games.
As my sister's birthday is coming soon, I thought I would make her a canvas of Annie. This is what I came up with.
There are a few things I don't like about this piece but I guess that is all part of the learning process. But I am sure Teri-Jean will like it.
Every time I do a piece, I have started to take notes of what I like and what I don't. Hopefully this will help me grow and improve.
Thanks to all who stop by to see this and, please, leave me a comment (good or bad) and let me know what you think.
Bye!!

Try Stampin' Challenge #74
Hello to all of you!
Today I have the card I did as my example for the challenge at TRY STAMPIN' ON TUESDAY. Our sketch was a basic one and it had lots of possibilities. I decided to use masking to create the central area of the card.
My stamp set for the flowers is Fifth Avenue Floral. I stamped three flowers, cut them out and used them to mask off various area. Then I coloured the flowers in purples and pinks. Then I ran it through the Big Shot with a scalloped oval die. I mounted this on a 4 1/2" oval cut out and then put the entire thing on a white card. The image in the center is stamped and then cut out with a punch. The last steps are using my elegant eggplant marker to go around the outside edge of the card and to add accent lines to the center punch out sentiment. Finally, colour a sticky pearl with your marker and then adhere it to the sentiment.

Christmas In July Project - Coupon Wallet
Hi, everyone!
Or should I say Ho!Ho!Ho!
I am here in the attic, crafting away and starting my Christmas gifts now. I love the attic - that is where all the holiday goodies are stored and where I have a crafting table set up. I can climb up here and play to my heart's content away from the rest of the world or I can sift through all kinds of memories of when my children were young (I keep old pictures and memorabilia up here as well). This is my own little sanctuary. I love it up here. A great place to be for "Christmas In July" thinking and doing.

T e c h n i q u e s
This coupon wallet is made like an accordion folder and then a binding is added.
M e t h o d
1. Seal
the envelopes
and then cut the bottom portion off so
that you have 6 pouches 6 1/8”
x 2
7/8”.
2. Cut 6 pcs. DSP 6” x 6”. Score each at 3”. Adhere around each pouch with edges at the top open section. You will have 1/16”
of
envelope showing at each end.
|
|
3. With
1”
circle punch, punch a half circle in the
top of each pouch on front side only.
|
|
| 4. Cut a piece of Pacific Point cardstock 6 1/8” x 8”. Score the along the 8” side at 1”, 2”, 3”, 4”, 5”, 6”, 7” |
5. Turn
this scored piece over and score at 1
½”, 2 ½”. 3 ½”, 4 ½”, 5 ½”, 6 ½”. Now fold this mountain – valley like and smoothe folds
with
bone folder.
6. Cut 2 pcs. Chipboard 6 ½” x 3
½” each. Cut 4 pcs. DSP the same size.
7. Sponge all
edges of chipboard with
Not Quite Navy ink.
|
8. Glue DSP to one side only of this . |
9. With sticky strip,
adhere the accordion folded sheet to the uncovered side of the chipboard matching edge of
chipboard and first fold up. Repeat with other piece of chipboard on other end of accordion folded
piece.
10. Using sticky strip on backside of each
pouch, adhere each into the valley folds of the accordion, making sure that the pouches go all the way down
in the valleys. **Make sure that the
fronts (with the half circles cut out) are all facing the same way.
11. Adhere the other 6 ½” x 3 ½” pieces of DSP to the inside covers
of folder.
12. Cut a
piece of Pacific Point cardstock 6 ½” x 5 ¾”. Score at 1”,
2 ½”, 3 ¼”,4 ¾” along the 5 ¾” side.
Fold both 1”
ends inward and adhere in place. Fold at the 2 ½”
and
3 ¼” scores inward
as well.
13. Measure up 1 ½”
on
outside edges of front and back
and make a
small
pencil mark on each. Make sure you start measuring from the very bottom of the accordion portion.
Adhere the binding piece (Pacific Point piece you just folded) to the front and the back
covers so that it looks like a book.
14. Stamp flower on Crumb Cake cardstock with
Not
Quite Navy ink. Punch out. You need 20 petals plus 1 centre section. Punch
out scalloped
circle from Crumb Cake. Using sticky strip,
(which I placed all over scalloped circle), glue 3 layers of petals around to make flower.
(Bottom layer has 10 petals, middle layer 5 and top layer 5) Be
sure to offset the petals. Also, I slightly curled
the top two rows of petals with bone folder before I
glued them on
to give depth.
Glue flower centre to flower. Make Build A
brad with co-ordinating DSP and then pierce a hole through flower centre and insert brad. Using sticky strip, adhere flower to wallet
front.
15. Using word processing program,
type “Coupons” and then print on Crumb Cake cardstock. Punch out with Word Window punch. Punch Modern Label shape out of Pacific Point
cardstock scrap. Glue “Coupons” segment to
this. Then adhere to the wallet.
16. All that is left is to adhere the Velcro closure to the inner top edge of wallet
and you are finished.
I hope you get a chance to make this cool, easy gift project and that you get a chance to check back often at UNSCRIPTED SKETCHES to meet the other designers and to enjoy our "Christmas In July" celebration.
