Late Nite Stampers #188

Hi everyone!
Today I have my sample for the "Colour Me" challenge at Late Nite Stampers.  We were to colour an image and incorporate it in our project.  Since I have to make treat bags for Halloween, this is what I came up with:
This cute little bag is a brown candy sac which I stamped with a wheel and Pumpkin Pie ink, cut the top crinkly edge off and made a flap out of DSP and then used a velcro circle to close it.  I stamped the "Fang-tastic" witch and vampire and pumpkin with Stazon on white card stock, coloured them with my markers and then glued them to the bag.  Simple but cute (and easy to mass produce).  Hope you like this quick Halloween idea!

Try Stampin' #81

Oops!  Silly me, I left this morning without posting my card for TRY STAMPIN' ON TUESDAY.  This week we have an awesome sketch :
And here is my sample:
I used Black and Lucky Limeade to create this card.  And everything I used was scraps or retired.  I decided to add to the eclectic nature of this card by tearing the strips instead of cutting them.  I used disco'ed Halloween paper for the strips, and the background paper and an older stamp for the image.  This is my very favourite Halloween stamp ever and I use it often.  The frame is a Nestability and the little cat is a wooden finding from my stash.  I ran black ink over the edges of the strips - but just a smidge- because I like that worn, sooty look.
Please take a few minutes to visit TRY STAMPIN' ON TUESDAY to see the samples from the rest of the team and to maybe do our sketch.
Thanks so much for visiting!

Unscripted Sketches #173

Good Saturday!  This is a little late posting but I lost track of time before work this morning and then when I got home, I started supper (on the barbecue), had a couple of margaritas, then we had a bonfire and apple martini (yum) and now I have a few minutes.
My post today is my sample for UNSCRIPTED SKETCHES.  I have to admit that I was a bit loose with the sketch this time so please cut me some slack.
I created yet another Halloween card and incorporated a tag into it.
I kind of like this card but think i could include a bit more embellishment - may go back and do that.
Please visit UNSCRIPTED SKETCHES this week.  You will not be disappointed.
See you later,
CherylAnn

Sunny Challenges 54/12

Good evening (or good tomorrow down under).
I want to thank the ladies over at SUNNY CHALLENGES for asking me to guest design this week.  The designers on that site are very talented and I am honoured to take part.
When Vicky contacted me, she said I was wondering if you would be interested in being one of our Guest Designers in an upcoming challenge.  The one I had in mind involved a technique – know how you love to get your fingers dirty.  She obviously knows me so well and she is right - I am happiest up to my elbows in ink or paint or both. LOL!!
The technique involved is called MAGICAL MASKING and it is a very cool one.  All you need is ink, masking tape and glossy card stock.  Simply apply the sticky side of the tape to the ink and then stick it on the glossy card and then lift it off to leave colour behind.  That is it.  What could be easier?
The challenge also includes a sketch and it is an uncluttered one - the better to showcase the technique.
For my card, I used Pumpkin Pie and Basic Black inks, Versa mark and Black embossing powder, various retired Halloween stamps and black and Pumpkin Pie card stock, Pumpkin Pie ribbon, the scalloped edge punch and a build-a-brad.  The magical masking is done on the background of the main card body.
Now, when you go to the SUNNY CHALLENGES site, you will see that the designers all made absolutely gorgeous cards - and then there is mine.  I really hope that they asked me because my work has an entirely different, more frivolous style,  because that is very evident when you see all the inspirations.
Thanks so much for visiting my blog, for visiting the SUNNY CHALLENGES blog and perhaps even giving their challenge a try.  And again, thank you to Vicky and the girls for giving me this great honour.
Bye for now!

Unscripted Sketches #172

Hi to all!  Thanks for stopping by.
Today I have my card for the sketch at UNSCRIPTED SKETCHES this week.  This week's challenge has a piggy back using green, turquoise, coral and brown.  I struggled a bit with these colours but at the last minute, it hit me - do the stamping in brown.  I should take "card making for dummies".

I used the coral as the card base and then framed my central image in scraps of green and turquoise.  The image is a Tim Holtz stamp which I stamped in soft suede on very vanilla card stock and then sponged the edges.  A young girl I know is heading to university so I printed the sentiment from the computer and then framed it in coral as well.  The string is coral jute and I simply tied brown beads on it, frayed the edges and then stapled it on.
When you visit UNSCRIPTED SKETCHES, you will see that the other girls were much more imaginative than I was but, as I say, I struggled somewhat with this one.
Thanks for visiting and I hope you find time to create this weekend.

Late Nite Stampers Challenge #186- Teacher Gift

Over at Late Nite Stampers, our challenge this week is to create a gift for a teacher.  Here is my offering:
It is a magnetic memo board.  I cut a piece of metal sheeting and then covered it with Whisper White and Lavender Lace card stock.  I then stamped the flowers and foliage from Vintage Vogue using Daffodil Delight and Wild  Wasabi inks.  I punched holes, inserted grommets and then ran a ribbon hanger through them. I then sewed the ends of the ribbon using buttons on the ends. I used the same ribbon to decorate the board.  Then I stamped and punched out five butterflies, attached adhesive magnet strips to the back to hold memos and that was pretty much it.
I hope you give it a try.  Just remember, you need tin snips to cut the metal!  So be just a bit careful, please.

STILL TIME TO SIGN UP

There is still time to sign up for this session!  You won't want to miss it.  Sign up at the side!!

Try Stampin' Challenge #79

Hi to everyone!
Well, our Re Grand Opening Sale is finally over at work.  I can now get back to my "normal" life.  No more working 7 or 8 days in a row.  Thank goodness.  So today I plan to spend the day organizing my craft room, getting ready for Celebrate Summer and doing some stamping and painting.  WooHoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now for my card for the challenge at TRY STAMPIN' ON TUESDAY.  The sketch is another awesome one (thanks, Jenn) and this week I stuck pretty close to it - surprise.  I decided to create a Halloween card (just my nature) and a simple one at that.  I used scraps of DSP, a piece of glitzy ribbon and a spider cut out - that is all.  Imagine - no stamping or painting or unusual techniques.  Is it really me?
I layered four spiders with dimensionals in between so that the spider has depth.  The web is vellum run through the Big Shot with the web embossing folder.
This was a quick and simple card to do but it is just plain fun and that is what I needed right now.  And, I like it.
Hope you visit TRY STAMPIN', check out the samples from the other designers, visit their blogs and leave some love, and maybe even enter our challenge.
Thanks for stopping by!

Unscripted Sketches #170

Good Saturday morning!
Hope everyone is enjoying the Olympics.  Aren't they exciting?
My card today is my example for the challenge at UNSCRIPTED SKETCHES this week.  Our sketch involved paper tearing - something I don't seem to do very often (except in art journalling).  So I decided to do a little bit extra tearing - very therapeutic.
I made the flower by paper tearing as well.
I used both patterned paper and book paper for this card.  The DP is from Seven Gypsies (I think).  I used SU More Mustard card stock as the background and then attached the patterned paper (5.25"X2.75") Then I tore a piece of book paper (5.25"X2.75") and then lightly sponged the edges with Crumb Cake ink.  I added the black ribbon and then made my flower.  I simply tore thin strips from the patterned paper and then glued them together in a flower shape and then added the pumpkin pie button.  I really like how the torn paper flower adds texture to this card.
UNSCRIPTED SKETCHES is a great sketch challenge site and I hope you pop over to see the examples from the team and possibly enter our challenge.
Thanks for visiting1

Late Nite Stampers Challenge #184

Hi everyone,
It has been a few days since I posted but I think I am back to normal again.
Today I have my card for the challenge at Late Nite Stampers this week - to CASE a card or project from the SU convention.  Now, I am not a demo and did not go to the event so I looked through Robbie's post of the display boards and a Halloween card caught my eye.  Here is my version:
For mine, I cut a rectangle for the house and did several scalloped layers for the roof.  I used my exacto knife to cut out the windows.  The stars are a wheel which I believe is discoed.  I used versa mark and embossing ink.  The tree also is discoed (as well as the cat).  The "found" items came from my stash.
My feeling is you can never get too much Halloween.
Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy!
